Duše hory ()

Duše hory is a formation of musicians and singers united around singer-songwriter Marek Dušák. Dusak was active in the Prague club scene around the mid-1980s before disappearing for over thirty-five years to pursue documentary filmmaking, Buddhism and goat breeding. When he returned to Prague 12 years ago, he started working as a producer and dramaturge at Studio Citadel. There, in 2021, the germ of the band Duše hory was formed, when Dušák met the legendary drummer Mirko Ali Horáček (hence the name Duše hory –Dušák/Horáček), conductor, trumpeter and choirmaster Lukáš Prchal and bassist, violinist Michal Tvrdý during occasional jam-sessions. Horacek is now replaced on drums by drummer Jane Medjuza, who jumps between Groove Army, Hell Horses and Soul Mountains, and vocalists Petra Klusonova, Kamila Fialova and Monika Janovská have been added. The group presents exclusively the original work of Marek Dušák, arranged by Lukáš Prchal. The style of the band oscillates between urban folk and blues-rock. Thanks to the multi-instrumentality of the individual players, the simple and easy to remember compositions by Dušák are given new arrangements and dynamics. But the main emphasis is on the lyrics, which are actually a chronicle of the author's life, his relationships, missteps and traumas. The narrative nature of Dušák's lyrics and their certain pathos refer to his great musical and poetic models, such as Vladimir Vysotsky, Marek Grechuta, and Jacques Brel.
